The 2020-2021 Azam Premier League season has come to an end after a 4-month hiatus. And it is APR, the Armed Forces team which wins again the title of champion for the second time in a row and without losing any matches.
The curtains have fallen in the Rwandan first division. And that lessons after 9 months of competitions played in a somewhat particular context with the Covid-19.
Despite everything, the Rwandan Football Federation (Ferwafa) has done everything with the Ministry of Health for the Azam Premier League to succeed, after a 4-month hiatus. Players and other club members were assigned an assignment in their 1before on the last day of the championship.
APR FC’s mind-blowing record
Rwanda will long remember the Moroccan technician Adil Mohammed Erradi. The latter entered the history of Rwandan football for having established a record. He guided the APR FC (53 points) to two league titles without losing a single match. The Army team was crowned League champions this season.
Two coronations in a row and not a single game lost in the league over the past two seasons. APR remained in 38 games unbeaten including 32 wins and 6 draws. The future champions as a major challenge to extend this feat. A record that could thus be difficult to beat for local clubs for years to come.
AS Kigali, the total fiasco
AS Kigali was arguably APR FC’s toughest challenger for the title. Corn, this team even finished far from the podium. Because, AS Kigali finished 6th with 33 units.
However, coach Eric Nshimyimana in his workforce, some better players in the League such as striker Shaban Hussein T, who finished at the top of the scorers standings (13 goals). Or, Muhajiri Hakizimana and Hussein Lawal as well as veteran goalkeeper Eric Ndaiyishimiye Bakame. But this skewer of talent was not enough to make APR falter.
